Who We Are

Westminster Academic Press (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the academic journal publishing platform at westminsteracademic.press. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website.

Data We Collect

We collect personal data in the following circumstances:

  • Manuscript submission — name, email address, institutional affiliation, and the content of your submission as processed through our Open Journal Systems (OJS) portal.
  • Contact enquiries — name, email address, and the content of messages submitted via the contact form.
  • Payments — submission & APC fee payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card details. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data.
  • Usage data — standard web server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) retained for up to 90 days for security and operational purposes.

How We Use Your Data

  • To process and manage manuscript submissions and communicate editorial decisions.
  • To respond to contact enquiries.
  • To process submission & APC fee payments.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, nor do we use it for marketing without your explicit consent.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data on the basis of: (a) contract performance — processing your submission and payment; (b) legitimate interests — operating a publishing platform and responding to enquiries; and (c) compliance with legal obligations.

Data Retention

Submission records and associated correspondence are retained for a minimum of seven years following the final editorial decision, in accordance with standard academic publishing practice. Contact enquiry records are retained for two years. Payment records are retained as required by law.

Your Rights

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at editorial@westminsteracademic.press.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

Cookies

This website uses a session cookie (necessary for secure form submission and login) and no third-party tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising cookies.

International Transfers

Our server infrastructure is hosted in the European Economic Area. Payment processing (Stripe) involves transfers to the United States under appropriate safeguards.
